As a multi-tasking Woman Rising, you may have discovered the world of Podcasts.
Podcasts are not new and have been available for years, however this ‘underground’ world of audio has exploded in the last two years with many creative people producing insightful episodes and inspiring interviews for our listening pleasure – some from their own kitchen table with their babies in the background adding their two cents worth.
Next time you feel trapped at home cleaning the house or feel like adding a little chit chat to your iPhone playlist, check out these five powerful podcasts for personal stories, heart-felt conversations and entertainment:
Created by Tess McCabe and Emma Clark, The New Normal is great a podcast for relaxed, friendly conversations between creative women, Mamas and business owners and their creative friends. Emma and Tess talk about life as working Mums, parenting and the age-old issue of balancing it all. Every now and then they also welcome friends to the microphone to share their insights on the juggle too.
Mindful Mama Coach, Author and Woman Rising Network Presenter Amy Taylor-Kabbaz’s fortnightly podcast Happy Mama with Amy is a little package of information heaven. Her guests have included Belinda Davidson, Simone Denny, Dr Kirsty Goodwin and Lisa Corduff to name only a few and each interview covers important topics that matter to Mamas including guilt, making time for yourself, time management, rebuilding your life after birth and connecting to your creativity. Listening to these conversations among incredible, authentic and heart-driven working Mamas is like a warm hug for your soul.
3. The Well
Sometimes we could all do with a healthy dose of reality, right? Produced by The Mamamia Women’s Network, The Well is hosted by Author and Columnist Rebecca Sparrow and KISS FM (Brisbane) radio host Robin Bailey. These two friends and Mamamia favourites are winning audiences everywhere for their big dose of healthy (and loving) reality for Mamas and how women can implement small practical changes in their day with out the ‘woo woo’. Of course, the Mamamia crew have six other podcasts to choose from if this one doesn’t float your boat.
If you manage a business or loved New York Times #1 best-selling book 4 Hour Work Week, then you’ll devour this popular business Podcast by Tim Ferriss. Yes, the show may have been voted the Best of 2014 and Best of 2015 by iTunes and his episodes have been downloaded more than 80 million times, but it’s his wide range of guests (think Jamie Foxx, Tony Robbins, Edward Norton, Jon Favreau and Whitney Cummings to name small few) who dish on their ways of doing things that has our attention. If you love open, honest conversation and the ‘insider’ details from successful people who do things a little left of the middle, this podcast is a must. It hasn’t been described as “The Oprah of Audio” for nothing!
A similar conversation-style show to The Tim Ferriss Show, Osher’s podcast is full of beautiful weekly conversations with people a little closer to home (Australia). His ability to connect with his special guest about their lives, struggles and successes is remarkable. This is a great one to listen to if you wake late at night to feed the baby and want to hear about someone else for a while to get out of your own head!
