Your heart is powerful. It’s fuelled by raw emotion and can never lie. Yet so often, it is the one thing we busy Mamas ignore because of fear and self-sabotage.
So how do we get to know our heart in order to release these limitations and create a life that aligns with our passions and truth?
“My work is all about conscious living, self-empowerment, embodying love, and tuning into your divine inner wisdom. Because I’ve discovered that as you begin making changes on the inside, life starts transforming on the outside.”
We caught up with Connie between clients in anticipation of her new #WRNWorkshop How To Live A Heart Driven Life now available in the shop.
Q: In a brief sentence or two, tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do:
I am a certified coach, writer, speaker and podcast host and my work and messages are all about empowering and supporting people to create lives of more freedom, flow and fulfilment. I believe that transformative inner work combined with heart-inspired action is a recipe for creating magical change within ourselves and our lives.
Q: As a Life Coach, how do you take care of yourself physically and mentally to be a source of support for others?
I have a whole range of self-care practices and rituals I draw on to support me. My morning meditation and journaling practise helps to set me up for the day ahead, and then through the day I take mini breaks for meditation if I need to re-calibrate and re-focus. The way I eat radically impacts how I feel so I eat a clean, wholefood and primarily plant based diet as this keeps me feeling energised. I find nature is incredible for re-charging my batteries so I love to walk barefoot in the sand, sit in the sunshine, or swim in the ocean whenever it is warm enough. And I aim to move my body every day either through morning walks, hot and sweaty yoga classes or a soft sand run. I also have a beautiful group of like-minded friends who make me laugh and provide endless love and encouragement. All of this combined fills me up from within and ensures I have lots to give to my work and my clients.
Q: What’s your favourite go-to website/book/magazine for inspiration and encouragement?
I really love Collective Magazine for inspiring entrepreneurial stories. I love Chani Nicholas for my weekly horoscopes and Mystic Mamma for astrological insights as I am incredibly sensitive to the energy of the moon and planets. I adore the work of Jennifer Kass and will check her instagram daily for inspiring messages and I also love her Love Pioneer podcast. My all time favourite book is A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, and I only need to read a few pages and I am immediately re-inspired. I also love to regularly check in on online magazine sites like Chalkboard Magazine for holistic and wellness inspo.
Q: Whom do you look up to for personal/professional advice?
I am very lucky to have some incredible friends who are life and health coaches, entrepreneurs, yoga teaches so I am surrounded by some amazing mentors and guides. I find sharing my journey with other people who are on the same path is incredibly important for me, and it helps me get out of my own head and feel less alone. The leaders and guides in my industry that really lead me are Marianne Williamson and Eckhart Tolle. Their work is my go to when I need wisdom and support.
Q: What’s your favourite TED talk and why?
I will be honest I haven’t watched a huge amount of TED talks, but I still always go back to the incredible talk by Brene Brown on The Power of Vulnerability. It is probably the only TED talk I have watched several times over, and it is one I always refer onto my clients too.
Q: What is one thing you’ve already achieved in life that really surprised you (e.g. “Wow, I can’t believe I’ve done that!”)?
It still actually blows my mind that I was able to quit my day job and begin working full-time for myself. I had zero business experience or training, and no real plan. But I had a heart full of passion, a strong inner guidance system and a determined mind. I think back to that period when I resigned and I think “Wow, that took guts” and it still amazes me that I was able to do it. I think full-time self-employment truly is a dream that so many people hold within themselves and it was something I dreamed of for years too. So I feel incredible grateful, and still sometimes quite shocked that I have been able to make it a reality.
Q: What is one App you can’t live without?
I would have to say it is Clue, which is a menstrual cycle tracker. I have found that developing a connection with and awareness of my personal cycles has helped me so much in my self-care and in practising lots of compassion with myself. Rather than fighting with my cycle I have learnt how to build my business and my schedule around it. It really helps me know when are the best times for me to be taking lots of action and getting stuff done, or knowing when I need more slow-paced creative work, or simply a day of rest.
Q: If Woman Rising could give you a round-the-world ticket, what 5 locations would you choose:
Los Angeles, Bali, The Amalfi Coast in Italy, London, and Tulum in Mexico
