Christmas would have to be my favourite time of year.
People connect. Family gather. Food is eaten. Swims are long. Days are lazy and games of Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit are played with passion.
It’s also a beautiful time to think of others. How can we give to those in our community who may need a little helping hand this season?
While we each have our own way to give to others and donate goods for excellent causes, I want to highlight someone else who I believe needs your love during this busy time: You.
Despite our best intentions to cultivate love, joy, and happiness during Christmas, the pressure for Mama-Bears to look after everyone else (more than normal) is very draining.
We make decisions and plans with the best of intentions but can you honestly say that you’re making those decisions from the heart, or just trying to please others?
Yes, this season is definitely a time to perfect our juggling skills, but don’t forget you (the real you that stays hidden during this time just to get through) plays a key role in the circus performance too.
So before you valiantly gallop in to the another Christmas, let’s identify little loves you can shower on yourself to care for your mind, body and soul too.
Complete the follow two activities and get on track for a beautiful, heart-driven festive season that won’t leave you feeling empty, drained and over it.
Activity One: Write down 3 ways you can honour your heart and take care of yourself this season.
Activity Two: What are all the little things that fill your heart and soul with love and joy? Write down as many as you can think of now, so when you’re starting to feel stressed or overwhelmed you can quickly choose from the options, disconnect from the situation and reconnect with your heart.
Let me know in the comments below, what is one thing you’d like to do for yourself this Christmas to take care of your body, mind and soul?
