Your whole life you’ve been planning, striving and working towards big goals. The Degree. The Career. The Man. The House. The Children. The World Travel.
You’ve lived your life based on five-year plans and controlled each step of your path with precision and a tight grip.
Then suddenly life has other ideas.
You’re backed in to a corner and you feel your reality slipping out of your hands. You can’t hold on any longer because it’s too painful…but if you let go now, you’re life will not work out, and you’ll fail. Right?
What if life was falling apart in order to rebuild one more aligned with your authentic self?
They say it’s always darkest before the dawn, and the intense power that comes before letting go of something can feel similar.
The situation you’re in is scary. You’re staring down the barrel of the unknown and it’s frightening. You can’t walk through this tunnel because there is too much at stake. You don’t know the outcome and you’re terrified of the emotional impact.
Unfortunately this is life’s way of getting you to pay attention. It won’t stop until you take notice.
What is it that you are holding on to so tightly? Why are you not ready to let go?
Is the pain of holding on and trying to ‘make it work’ really the best option to support you mentally, physically and emotionally?
What no longer serves you will feel hard. You will start to feel disconnected and intuitively feel like a change is coming, but when you want to control something so fiercely you often can’t see that letting go will ultimately create space for what should be in your life.
Think of it this way: it’s as if you’re so focused on catching a Taxi to your next stop, that you don’t see the luxury car waiting for you on the other side of the road. If only you’d look up and beyond your immediate circumstances, and let go of the need to catch a cab, you’d see life has a better plan.
Eventually the realisation comes that you can’t control the path – you thought you wanted – any longer. It’s moving in another direction waiting for you to open up to new possibilities that will ultimately open your heart and soul to your authentic self.
Watch life reward you when you realise the beautiful power that comes from letting go.
Surrender and trust the universe has your back.
Have you experienced significant change after letting go of something that no longer served you? How did you handle it?
