As we jump two feet first in to a new year, it’s not uncommon to feel behind before you’ve event got started.
That is, despite taking holidays to be with our family and wind down after a hectic year, for many us we overestimate how much we can achieve in our time off and underestimate what’s really required of us (think: shopping for presents, groceries, cooking, cleaning, travelling, organising children, organising partners, organising ourselves, our house, connecting with friends and family etc…) By the time you return to work, we’re exhausted and not sure what was really achieved.
That’s why I’m focused on helping you clear the mental, physical and digital clutter surrounding you, and move From Choas To Calm to kick start the year with confidence and contentment.
Here are my top 3 reasons why it’s important to clear the clutter:
1. It’ll Boost Your Confidence
Do you ever walk in to a room, open a cupboard or draw and feel the frustration rise from your toes to your nose because there is piles of stuff everwhere – so much so you either stop looking for what you’re after or chuck more on top and think, “Out of sight, out of mind.”
If this sensation is familiar, getting real about the clutter will help you take back control of your spaces, feel better about your bedroom, home, work space, car etc… and thus boost your confidence and mental wellbeing. Just think, you can also invite people over any not panic if they go to open ‘that door’!
2. You’ll Have More Time
According to research people spend more than 55 minutes per day looking for things. When you take small actionable steps towards clearing the clutter, letting go of things you don’t need and cleaning spaces, it’s likely you’ll feel and be more organised, thus reclaiming wasted time in your day. Just imagine what you can do with that spare 55 minutes!
3. You’ll Feel Content & Calm
When you set out to reclaim your spaces and declutter your personal and/or professional environment the positive spin off is definitely the feeling of being content and calm with the spaces you’ve purposefully created around you.
Imagine the immense personal pride you’ll feel when you arrive home from work and things are in their dedicated spaces; piles of unloved junk are no where to be seen; your phone works again because it’s no longer full of Apps you don’t use; your social media feed is supportive and uplifting and the house has increased its useable space twice over!
What a beautiful feeling!
