Tracy Harris is the fun-loving and fierce Founder of Mums With Hustle, an online community of working Mothers, and a straight-talking Contributor to Woman Rising magazine.
In this Q&A, Tracy shares what makes her tick, what makes her run for the hills and what drives her to create a worldwide community of women supporting and connecting with each other to create the best biz she can (#LoveThat!).
Please introduce yourself and let us know a little about you.
I’m Tracy, energised mama (#passthecoffee) to two little future gentlemen. I’m a wife, and I’m the founder of Mums With Hustle! I created this online platform to grow a community of like-minded bizmums. It’s about education and advice. It’s about learning from each other, celebrating the success of one another and it’s about working together to totally kick-ass and achieve the goals and lifestyle we all crave as inspired women.
Why did you start your business and what was your mission when it started?
I had spent years learning about online marketing, blogging and entrepreneurship through various means but I had to piece it all together in a way that made sense for my life. There wasn’t any platform or source (that I found) that delivered content through the lens of a young mum with no startup capital and no formal biz background. #
I started my biz because I wanted to build this “thing” I knew others would benefit from and although I didn’t have all the pieces, I believed I could.
My mission was to be the number one place online for bizmums to learn, connect and collaborate.
My super power has always been in anything content related – speaking, writing, and teaching! I’m also extremely personable. I love meeting people and learning their stories! That’s what pushed me to start podcasting.
How have you personally evolved since those early days?
I’m WAY more confident.
I can make decisions in a flash.
I don’t need everything to be “perfect” to move ahead.
I take chances.
I have less tolerance for BS. I run for the hills when I get a whiff of anything or anyone who is putting on any sort of front. #BeAuthentic
I guess I’ve changed by becoming more self aware and really leaning into my strengths. I feel a strong responsibility to do something epic with my talents, but it needs to be for the benefit of others. I love that.
What did you wish you knew when you started?
What is one piece of advice you’d like other women rising (aka working women) to know?
Know the big picture but focus only on what has to be done next. Progress is in baby steps, taken consistently. It’s about getting from A to B and NOT A to Z!
What are you working on now? What’s coming up we can look out for?
Ohhhhh, three things actually. Well, in addition to the weekly podcast and blog, that is.
1. Some small yet powerful digital products to help small biz owners, bloggers and aspiring influencers kill it on Instagram. #ItsMyJam
2. I’m building something that will improve the way the Mums With Hustle community currently collaborates and connects. Currently putting the final tweaks on this project, and I’m giddy with excitement!
3. Working on my ultimate mission – educating bizmums on an epic scale! Watch this space.
