Firstly, let’s get the facts:
Name: Bernadette O’Connor
Business Location: Newcastle
Q: Tell us about your business and why you started it.
Emotional Energy Exchange evolved from me starting my work as a kinesiologist in 2013. After completing my studies in Kinesiology, I knew I was immediately ready to start working with clients. I have always had a strong calling to help others, and my career path had seen me work across a number of professions centred on guiding others. Yet it wasn’t until I began working with clients as a kinesiologist, and specifically helping people to release emotional energy blocks and deeply embedded limiting beliefs, that I felt I truly was helping people to evolve and become the best versions of themselves, by bringing them into alignment with their truth.
Q: Who do you admire in business and why do you look up to them?
This is such a hard question for me to answer, because I work with so many extraordinary women who are in business across many different fields. From those just starting out, to those well-established, from those in the online space, to those in bricks and mortar business. The one thing I consistently admire about these women is their desire to bring their unique gift to the world. I deeply respect those women who have the courage, passion and persistence to follow their calling, to live their life from a place of truth and to bring that through in the work they share with the world. It isn’t always easy, I know that, but being rewarded with a deep sense of soul fulfillment, is definitely worth it.
Q: What’s one thing you wish you knew about business when you started?
I wish I wasn’t scared of the concept of business when I started. I had worked for many large businesses in the corporate world and I had a very specific perspective about business, based on these experiences. Business was serious and hard and stressful, and I didn’t want any of these things in the work I was doing, so I actively avoided the business side of my business.
I have grown to know that my business is not separate to me, it is a reflection of me, and if it is feeling serious, hard, stressful, then that is a reflection of what is going on within me. My business reflects me, and if I am feeling light, abundant, in flow and at ease, then my business will feel this way as well. And fortunately, most of the time it now does.
Q: When you look back on your life what do you want people to say about your life/legacy?
Wow, what a question! How’s this:
Bernadette had the courage to share her gifts with the world, to live from a place of love-which is the truth of all people, and her light continues to inspire others to grow, to evolve, to become.
Q: Why do you believe in the power of #womensupportingwomen?
As a Kinesiologist I work with energy, and I know the power of energy as a creator of change in the world. When women support one another, their energy combines and when aligned to a shared vision or goal, the power of manifestation is amplified, and magic can happen.
When we choose to rise as one, and focus our energy on a shared vision, significant change can occur. This is not only true for women supporting one another, this is true for all humanity. When we align as one, powerful change will occur.
Q: What’s one cool thing we should know about you?
I had a dream from the time I was seven years old to become a published author. And it’s pretty cool to be able to say that after 35 years of dreaming, I have now had two books published in one year. My debut novel, ‘Let’s Go Home: Finding There While Staying Here’ was launched in March 2018 and in the months following its release my next book almost wrote herself, and I am now within weeks of launching my second novel ‘Beneath The Veil’, having just opened for pre-sales!
And as ‘Beneath The Veil’ launches into the world, ‘Let’s Go Home’ has found herself in the sphere of celebrities, having been featured in one of the editions of YMag that was included in the Gold Globe gift bags, with Lady Gaga, Emma Watson, Michelle Williams, Emily Blunt, Emma Stone, Cate Blanchett, to name just a few, who received copies. This is one more magical step towards my vision for ‘Let’s Go Home’ being transformed to the screen and inspiring millions around the world, becoming a reality.
That’s about as cool as I get!
Q: What’s your dream for your business – or end goal?
My dream for my business is to reach as many people as possible, to inspire and guide them to unravel their past, embrace their truth, to grow and become who they are meant to be in this life. I know that I will always work with clients 1:1 and will continue to write the books I am called to write. And for me this is a dream, because I get to do what I love each day.
I believe in the power of story in transforming people, and I believe in the power of the stories shared in ‘Let’s Go Home’ and ‘Beneath The Veil’. My dream is that my books will reach millions of people around the world and be transformative for all who read them.
Beneath The Veil is currently open for pre-orders and can be purchased at www.bernadetteoconnor.com
